MySpace, one of the most popular social networking site today, shifting their focus to become a platform for social games.
Recently they launched the Games Lab, a program that invites developers to game their headquarters in Seattle and Los Angeles to collaborate with personnel MySpace for several weeks.
According to Manu Rekhi, the responsible personnel in the division of gaming MySpace, the program is the result of collaboration between social networking Playdom and some social gaming companies.
"The relationship of cooperation like this is generally only involve representatives," Rekhi said, as quoted from Softpedia, May 25, 2010. "However, we tried to collect the game developers to make sure we communicate with the maximum," he said.
Rekhi says, the developers will be present in groups. "We'll plan everything so that our relationships are strong between us by the developers of the game," he said.
With this step, MySpace seems to spend more resources to develop social gaming on their platform and no longer the focus to compete with Facebook.
Around this problem, Rekhi asserted, MySpace is now considered a social network to discover and learn new things. The Facebook is a place where users can meet old friends and interact with them.
Since the purpose is to make users understand the difference between these two social networking sites, MySpace assess their need to make changes in the services they offer. Game Lab itself is now open and requires a number of personnel for various positions
